Historic Downtown Perry Placemaking
The City of Perry is proud to be part of the Georgia Economic Placemaking Collaborative, a two-year program led by the Georgia Municipal Association, Georgia Cities Foundation, and the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government. This initiative helps cities identify and implement placemaking strategies that enhance their downtown districts through design, community engagement, and economic vitality.
As a member of the current cohort, Perry’s Placemaking Committee brings together a cross-section of stakeholders—from city staff and local businesses to residents and creatives—who are passionate about shaping a vibrant, inclusive, and welcoming downtown experience.
What is Placemaking?
Placemaking is a community-driven approach to planning and development that focuses on transforming public spaces into places where people want to gather, linger, and connect. It celebrates the unique character of a place and fosters economic development by encouraging activity, engagement, and investment.
