On July 2, 2023, at around 11:50 p.m. the Perry Police Department was notified that a victim with an apparent gunshot wound had arrived at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins. After speaking to the victim officers determined the shooting was a result of a marijuana deal that turned into an armed robbery that occurred near the intersection of Newport Ave and Glennfinnan Way in Perry. Flint Energies Foundation awarded the Perry Police Department, as well as 25 other departments, with $10,000 as part of their mission to support local law enforcement with their public safety efforts.
