The Inside Perry, Georgia Podcast (Youth-Adult):

The podcast gives listeners an inside look at Perry’s local government in an informal and fun way. Discussion topics include City operations, events, and other interests of City residents and businesses. Episodes are available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, Google Podcasts, and iHeartRadio. Listeners are given the opportunity to submit topics or questions they would like to hear about on the podcast.

Perry Preview Monthly Newsletter (Youth-Adult):

The Perry Preview is a monthly electronic newsletter which contains City news from the previous month and a preview of what’s happening in the City in the next month. Users must sign up for the newsletter to be delivered to their email. Occasionally, e-blasts (shorts newsletters relevant to one topic (i.e. events, citizen engagement opportunities)) are sent to the list of email subscribers.

Mayor, Council Members, and City Staff are available, upon request, to civic organizations and schools for relevant presentations regarding City operations and projects.
Animal Control Adoptions (Adult 18+)
When: By Appointment
Cost: Depends
Notes: If the animal is already spayed or neutered, there is not cost to adopt. However, a rabies vaccination is required. If not spayed or neutered, the owner must pay spay/neuter surgery costs with a local veterinary clinic before the City will officially release the animal to the new owner.

The Perry Animal Control facility is open to the public to view animals when staff are present or by appointment. This allows the public to claim dogs and cats picked up by staff or view those available for adoption.
Stop The Scam Fraud Prevention Training (Adult)

This opportunity is offered to educate and empower people to protect themselves against fraud and other scams. Officers provide the knowledge of how to identify scams, the latest scamming trends, and how to best protect yourself and your family. Classes are offered to civic, church, neighborhood, veterans, and senior groups.
Coffee With A Cop (Youth-Adult)

Firearms Safety Training Classes (Adult 21+)

Notes: Participants must bring their own weapon, ammo, safety glasses, and ear protection.

This opportunity provides participants with knowledge of basic safety training including loading, unloading, and firing of handguns. In addition, the class will provide information on Georgia law regarding possession, concealment, and legal justifications for use of deadly force.
Citizens Police Academy (Adult 20+)

This 12-week program gives participants an opportunity to understand the responsibilities and challenges within the law enforcement profession. The program will include a firearms safety instruction class. Program completion is not the equivalent of completing the Mandate Training Academy for sworn law enforcement officers. The program is for civilian education only.

Senior Citizen Firearm Safety Class (Adult 60+)

The class will provide participants with knowledge of basic safety training including loading, unloading, and firing of handguns. In addition, the class will provide information on Georgia law regarding possession, concealment, and legal justifications for use of deadly force. Participants must bring their own weapon, ammo, safety glasses, and ear protection. Participants must be 60 years of age or older, a resident of Perry, consent to a background check, and complete a registration and liability form.

Fire Safety Poster Contest (3rd Graders)

Notes: Poster contest for all 3rd grade students enrolled in a Perry area public or private school. 3rd grade homeschooled students in the Perry area are also eligible to participate.

During Fire Prevention Week, Perry Fire & Emergency Services hosts a fire safety poster contest for all 3rd graders in the Perry area. Students create a poster with a yearly theme and submit them for the contest. The winner is given a pizza party with their class and Perry firefighters. They are also given the opportunity to ride in a fire truck to school.
