Perry Fire & Emergency Invites Public To Train Like A Fire Fighter

The City of Perry Fire & Emergency Services Department will host Train Like A Firefighter on March 16 at the Davis Farm Fire Station beginning at 10 AM.

Participants will engage in a physical agility test, receiving hands-on guidance from Perry Fire Department members at each of the seven skill stations. This experience provides valuable insights into the training methods employed by firefighters.

After practicing each skill, individuals will gear up to complete the entire course wearing a firefighter helmet, gloves, and a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). To meet the state standard for firefighters, participants must successfully finish the course in seven minutes or less.

"Through Train Like A Firefighter, we hope participants will gain a deeper understanding of our department, explore firefighting as a career, and enjoy a unique, challenging, and cost-free exercise activity.” says Fire Training Chief Charles Mundy.

The event is limited to the first 20 citizens to arrive and sign the waiver on the day of the event. There is no limit to the number of spectators.

Spectators must park in designated areas to avoid obstructing fire apparatus.

Davis Farm Fire Station 2 is located at 150 Commodore Drive in Perry.
