On January 7, 2021, at approximately 1310 hours, a shooting occurred in the parking lot at 1207 Washington Street, at the Perry Police Department.

The victim Shantoria M. Taylor (black female) from Perry Georgia was shot 1 time in the lower extremities with a shotgun. Taylor has been transported to Navicent Health in Macon.

Several minutes later we obtained information that the shooter was at 233 Wes Park Drive, Perry, Georgia. Patrol units responded to the location and was able to take suspect Darryl Smith (black male, 53 years of age, 102 Avanta Court, Warner Robins, Georgia 31093) into custody without incident. Darryl Smith has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery. Smith is being held at the Houston County Detention Center.
