Perry Police Department Offers Additional Women’s Firearm Safety Class

The Perry Police Department will host a 2-part Women's Firearm Safety Class on Thursday, August 10 and Saturday, August 12.

This comprehensive course will cover a range of topics, including Georgia firearms laws, carrying and concealment, justifications for the use of deadly force, handgun loading and unloading, and marksmanship fundamentals.

Classroom instruction takes place on Thursday, August 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the Perry Public Safety Building (1207 Washington Street). Range instruction takes place Saturday, August 12 from 9:00 a.m. – Noon at the Perry Police Department Range (261 Toomer Road).

Applicants must be at least 21 years old, female, and undergo a criminal history background check. Participants are required to bring their own weapon, ammunition, eye protection, and ear protection. Firearms are strictly prohibited in the classroom and must remain secured in participants' vehicles until instructed otherwise.

Participants are advised to dress casually and appropriately for the weather conditions. Open-toe shoes are not allowed.

Enrollment for the Women's Firearm Safety Class ends on August 7th, or until all spots are filled. The class fee is $28.00.

All applications must be submitted in person to the City of Perry Police Department (1207 Washington Street). The Application and Waiver/Release of Liability forms are available for download on our website.
