On July 2, 2023, at around 11:50 p.m. the Perry Police Department was notified that a victim with an apparent gunshot wound had arrived at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins. After speaking to the victim officers determined the shooting was a result of a marijuana deal that turned into an armed robbery that occurred near the intersection of Newport Ave and Glennfinnan Way in Perry. Detectives were able to identify two suspects during the investigation. These two individuals were taken into custody without incident at a residence on Glennfinnan Way. A search warrant was served on the residence; two firearms, ammunition, along with marijuana was recovered. One of the firearms recovered was reported stolen out of Warner Robins in June of this year.

Azaylen Chisholm B/M 19 years old, of Perry, Georgia and a 16-year-old black male juvenile were charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a felony, and Theft by Receiving (Firearm), Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute.
