Councilmember Reverend Willie King Re-Elected

During the first council meeting of 2024, City Attorney Brooke Newby conducted the official swearing-in ceremony for newly re-elected Council Member Reverend Willie King (District 1 Post 2).

Council Member Reverend Willie King was elected to council in 2008. A council member for over a decade, he is retired from Robins Air Force Base. Reverend King is the pastor and founder of Faith Bible Fellowship Church in Perry.

He served as Mayor Pro-Tempore in 2010, 2019, 2020, 2022. In addition, Reverend King was selected by his fellow councilmembers to fill a vacancy and serve as acting Mayor of the City from July 2019 until September 2019. In this capacity, Reverend King was the first Afro-American person to serve as Presiding Officer for the City.
