Historic Preservation Commission Seeking Members

The City of Perry’s newly adopted Historic Preservation Commission is seeking interested Perry residents to submit a membership application.

The commission will support, identify, and determine the historical, cultural, and aesthetic heritage of the City of Perry. The City is committed to the preservation of Perry’s heritage and historical assets.

Perry Historic Preservation Commission Ordinance

Commission Member Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain an inventory of all property within the City of Perry having the potential for designation as historic property;
  • Recommend specific districts, sites, buildings, structures, or objects to be designated by ordinance as historic properties or districts to City Council; and
  • Review Certificate of Appropriateness applications to approve or reject within the provision of the established ordinance.

Membership Requirements

  • City of Perry resident
  • Demonstrate a special interest, experience, or education in history, architecture, or the preservation of historical resources
  • Members shall serve a three-year term
