Inclusive Playground Breaks Ground at Magnolia Point Park
The City of Perry, in partnership with the Haseya Women's Club, officially broke ground on a new inclusive playground at Magnolia Point Park.
Community members, project partners, and families gathered to mark the start of construction on a project that has been in the works for several years. What began as a community-led idea has moved forward through planning, fundraising, and collaboration.
The playground will span approximately 18,000 square feet and is being designed to accommodate a wide range of physical and sensory needs. Features will include specialized surfacing and equipment intended to improve accessibility and allow more children to use the space comfortably and safely.
Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of creating a park where more families can participate in everyday play experiences. The project was shaped by input from families and professionals who have firsthand experience with accessibility challenges.
City leaders also noted the broader impact of the park, describing it as an addition that will serve both Perry residents and visitors from across the region.
Construction is expected to move forward in the coming weeks.
Magnolia Point Park is located at 148 Langston Road in Perry.
