Perry Council Appoints Leisure Services Director

Perry Mayor and Council appointed Curtis Coates III as the City’s Leisure Services Director during the January 2, 2024, Council meeting.

Mr. Coates will serve as the driving force behind providing the community with opportunities that enhance their physical, social, and emotional well-being. His role spans a wide spectrum, from strategy and organization to overseeing staff, implementing initiatives, and assessing their impact.

Born and raised in Macon, GA, Curtis brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to community enrichment. With a background deeply rooted in recreation management, Curtis spent the last 5 years serving as the Program Director for the Dublin-Laurens County Recreation Authority. In this role, he managed diverse programs, including football, basketball, after-school/summer camp programs, Southern Pines Water Park, special events, and senior programs.

Currently pursuing a degree in Sports Entertainment Management at the American Military University, Curtis has demonstrated a keen understanding of program revitalization, strategic community partnerships, and the establishment of benchmark programs that set the standard for recreation managers across the region.
