Perry Main Street Program Named Georgia Main Street of the Month

Posted on

The City of Perry’s Main Street Program is Georgia Main Street’s “Main Street of the Month” in February.

“Historic Downtown Perry has been a Classic Main Street Community since 2014. Over the last six years, we have experienced monumental growth and change that has not only diversified our business mix downtown, but our community as a whole. Our downtown, with the support of our leadership and the assistance and resources provided by the Georgia Main Street Program, is home to around 190 businesses and counting. Our Main Street program is hard at work continuing to cultivate a downtown curated of unique experiences and destinations for both our residents and visitors. There is something for everyone in Historic Downtown Perry and the future is good in the city Where Georgia Comes Together!”

Haley Bryant, Main Street Coordinator

Perry’s Main Street Program is a designated Classic Main Street Community by the state of Georgia and nationally accredited by the National Main Street Center. All Classic Main Street communities are required to meet ten standards for accreditation. They place an emphasis on historic preservation, education, and economic development leading itself to an active and vibrant downtown.

The Georgia Main Street Program began in 1980. The initiative now serves as one of the largest Main Street networks in the country. Perry is one of 118 Main Street Cities in Georgia.
