Perry Officers Arrest Suspects After Identity Theft Call

On October 19, 2022, Perry Police Department officers responded to Sunmark Bank (1005 Northside Drive) for a reported individual attempting to cash a fraudulent check. Officers responded and located the suspect in Sunmark Bank. After a thorough investigation by officers and bank staff, the check was confirmed to be fraudulent. The suspect was taken into custody. The offender was identified as Ja Rodney Mccoy. After further investigation, officers identified Jackie Davis Jr. as an additional suspect.

Perry Police Officers and Georgia State Patrol arrested Davis on unrelated open Houston County warrants, DUI, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. During the arrest, a loaded semi-automatic handgun was seized. He was taken into custody and detectives recovered numerous fraudulent documents. Other evidence consistent with the production and possession of forged checks and identity theft was also found.

Ja Rodney Mccoy was charged with Forgery 3rd degree and Parole Violation. Jackie Davis Jr was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, DUI, and two Superior Court Probation Violations. Additional charges for Davis are pending.
