Perry Police Arrest Multiple Suspects in Mail Theft and Check Fraud Investigation

PERRY, GA – In early September 2025, the Perry Police Department began receiving multiple reports from residents of Perry and Houston County whose checks had been stolen after being placed in the United States Postal Service (U.S.P.S) mail system through the Perry Post Office.

As investigators identified a pattern among the incidents, the Perry Police Department launched an extensive investigation utilizing a variety of investigative techniques and resources to identify those responsible.

Through these efforts, detectives identified multiple suspects believed to be involved in a scheme involving stolen mail, check theft, and check fraud.

As a result of the investigation, warrants were secured for several individuals. Multiple suspects have since been taken into custody, while additional suspects remain outstanding and are actively being sought by law enforcement.

Throughout the course of the investigation, detectives identified approximately 15 to 20 victims throughout Perry and Houston County who were impacted by the scheme. The investigation remains active, and additional charges or arrests may be forthcoming as investigators continue to review evidence and pursue additional leads.

The Perry Police Department would like to recognize the valuable assistance provided by the Leesburg Police Department, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Houston County Sheriff's Office, and the United States Postal Service. Their cooperation, investigative support, and commitment to public safety were instrumental in advancing this case and holding those responsible accountable.

The Perry Police Department encourages residents to take precautions when mailing checks or other sensitive financial documents. Whenever possible, citizens are encouraged to have caution when mailing checks through the mail or utilize a different method when needing to make any payments.
