Perry Police Department to Host Senior Citizens’ Firearms Safety Class and Women's Firearm Safety Class in April

The City of Perry Police Department will host a Senior Citizens’ Firearm Safety class and a Women’s Firearm Safety class in April 2025.

Senior Citizens’ Firearm Safety Class – April 11 | 8 AM – 12 PM | $30 Class Fee

Women’s Firearm Safety Class – April 12 | 8 AM – 12 PM | $30 Class Fee

Each class will provide participants with knowledge of basic safety training including loading, unloading, and firing of handguns. In addition, the class will provide information on Georgia law regarding possession, concealment, and legal justifications for use of deadly force.

Class Schedule:

Classroom and range instruction will be provided for each firearm safety class:

Classroom instruction is held in the training room at the Perry Police Department (1207 Washington Street). Classroom instruction begins at 8 AM. Each classroom session lasts 2 hours.

Range instruction takes place at the Perry Police Department Shooting Range (261 Toomer Road). Range instruction begins at 10 AM. Each range session lasts 2 hours.

Class Requirements:

Senior Citizens’ Firearm Safety Class Requirements:

  • 60 Years & Older
  • MUST complete a Firearm Class Application, Liability Waiver, and consent to a Background Check – All documents must be submitted in person to the Perry Police Department at 1207 Washington Street
  • Resident of Perry
  • Provide your own handgun, ammo, safety glasses, and ear protection

Women’s Firearm Safety Class Requirements:

  • 60 Years & Younger
  • MUST complete a Firearm Class Application, Liability Waiver, and consent to a Background Check – All documents must be submitted in person to the Perry Police Department at 1207 Washington Street
  • Resident of Perry
  • Provide your own handgun, ammo, safety glasses, and ear protection
