On June 11, 2024, the Perry Police Department Criminal Investigation Division in partnership with Special Agents from the Georgia Department of Revenue Alcohol and Tobacco Division conducted ID compliance checks at several businesses in the City of Perry. At six of the nine businesses checked a person under the age of 21 was sold a vape or tobacco product without having to provide valid government identification. The below businesses were found to be in violation of Georgia law prohibiting the sale of vape or tobacco products to a person under the age of 21.

2. Perry Food Mart, 719 Carroll Street, Perry, Georgia
3. Perry Tobacco and Vapor, 322 Perry Parkway, Perry, Georgia
4. Shop and Go, 1114 Macon Road, Perry, Georgia
5. Smoke Shop, 1365 Sam Nunn Blvd, Perry, Georgia
6. Smoke Shop Guru, 1506 Sam Nunn Blvd, Perry, Georgia

At the time of violation, a citation was issued to the employee completing the sell of vape or tobacco products to a person under 21 years of age. An administrative citation was issued to the business owner by Georgia Department of Revenue.

The Perry Police Department and Georgia Department of Revenue will continue to conduct random compliance checks at businesses in the City of Perry that sell alcohol, vape, and tobacco products.
