City of Perry Announces Applications Open for Perry University Class of 2026

The City of Perry is now accepting applications for the Perry University Class of 2026, an immersive civic education program designed to help residents and business owners better understand how their local government works.

Perry University offers participants a unique, behind-the-scenes look at City operations, leadership, public safety, community development, quality of life services, and economic and downtown development. Through interactive sessions, hands-on activities, and guided discussions with City staff, participants gain practical insight into the challenges and opportunities of managing a growing community.

“Our goal is to develop knowledgeable, engaged Perry citizens,” said City of Perry Communications Director, Tabitha Clark. “We take government seriously, but we also want participants to have fun while learning how their city operates.”

Program Details

The Class of 2026 will meet on Thursdays from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at locations throughout Perry.
Each session includes demonstrations, department presentations, and interactive exercises such as planning scenarios, mock council activities, tours, and public safety experiences.
