On January 23, 2023, the Perry Police Department responded to the Dollar General on Plaza Drive, Perry, Georgia in reference to a theft. Once the officers arrived at the scene it was discovered over 150 fraudulent transactions were made by an employee who was employed by Dollar General. The employee was identified as Vanessa Monique Brownlee, 32 YOA, from Warner Robins, Georgia. Dollar General officials estimate the loss as being upward of $80,000.00. Brownlee was taken into custody and transported to the Houston County Detention Center. Brownlee was charged with Theft by Taking.
