Perry Police Department to Host 3 Firearm Safety Classes In September
The City of Perry Police Department will host a Senior Citizen’s Firearm Safety class, a Women’s Firearm Safety class, and a General Public Firearm Safety Class in September.
Senior Citizen Firearm Safety Class – September 13 | 8 AM – 12 PM | $30 Class Fee
Women’s Firearm Safety Class – September 14 | 8 AM – 12 PM | $30 Class Fee
General Public Firearm Safety Class – September 15 | 2 PM – 6 PM | $30 Class Fee
Each class will provide participants with knowledge of basic safety training including loading, unloading, and firing of handguns. In addition, the class will provide information on Georgia law regarding possession, concealment, and legal justifications for use of deadly force.
Class Schedule:
Classroom and range instruction will be provided for each firearm safety class:
Classroom instruction is held in the training room at the Perry Police Department (1207 Washington Street). The Senior Citizen’s and Women’s Firearm Safety classes start at 8 AM, and the General Public Firearms Safety class starts at 2 PM. Each classroom session lasts 2 hours.
Range instruction takes place at the Perry Police Department Shooting Range (261 Toomer Road). The Senior Citizen’s and Women’s Firearm Safety classes begin at 10 AM, and the General Public Firearms Safety class starts at 4 PM. Each range session lasts 2 hours.

Senior Citizen’s Firearm Safety Class Requirements:
- 60 Years & Older
- MUST complete a Firearm Class Application, Liability Waiver, and consent to a Background Check – All documents must be submitted in person to the Perry Police Department at 1207 Washington Street
- Resident of Perry
- Provide your own handgun, ammo, safety glasses, and ear protection
Women’s Firearm Safety Class Requirements:
- 60 Years & Younger
- MUST complete a Firearm Class Application, Liability Waiver, and consent to a Background Check – All documents must be submitted in person to the Perry Police Department at 1207 Washington Street
- Resident of Perry
- Provide your own handgun, ammo, safety glasses, and ear protection
General Public Firearm Safety Class Requirements:
- 60 Years & Younger
- MUST complete a Firearm Class Application, Liability Waiver, and consent to a Background Check – All documents must be submitted in person to the Perry Police Department at 1207 Washington Street

Waiver, Release, and Indemnification Agreement
The fee for each class is $30 per participant. Class participation is limited to 16 people, and registration closes September 3 or when class is full.
