Perry Police Department To Host Senior Citizen Firearm Safety Class

The City of Perry Police Department will host a Senior Citizen Firearm Safety class on March 4, 2024, from 10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The class will provide participants with knowledge of basic safety training including loading, unloading, and firing of handguns. In addition, the class will provide information on Georgia law regarding possession, concealment, and legal justifications for use of deadly force.

Classroom instruction takes place at the Perry Police Department (1207 Washington Street) in the training room beginning at 10 a.m. for 2 hours. Range instruction will be at the Perry Police Department Shooting Range (261 Toomer Road) for 2 hours beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Participants must be 60 years of age or older, a resident of Perry, consent to a background check, and complete a registration and liability form. Registration ends on February 27 or until the class is full. The fee is $28 per participant.

Participants must bring their own weapon, ammo, safety glasses, and ear protection. Class participation is limited to 20 people. Registration can be found here.
