City Hires Downtown Manager

The City of Perry is thrilled to welcome Ms. Jazmin Thomas as the new Downtown Manager.

An integral part of the Perry team, Ms. Thomas will be the “eyes and ears” of the City in the Downtown Development District. She will serve as the liaison between the City and District property owners, businesses, and visitors.

“Our historic downtown is at the heart of what makes Perry a great place to live, work, and play. We’re excited for Ms. Thomas to continue the great work of promoting a thriving downtown business district while preserving Perry’s historic resources and character,” said Perry Mayor Randall Walker.

Ms. Thomas will oversee the goal to enhance Downtown Perry and cultivate a thriving economic environment with involvement in the Perry Main Street Advisory Board and the Perry Downtown Development Authority.

In her professional pursuits, she has proven to be an accomplished agent of change by utilizing her background and skillsets in both the private and public sector. Most recently, Ms. Thomas worked for the University of Georgia’s Cooperative Extension Service as the 4-H Youth Development County Extension Agent. She worked with Dougherty County youth to develop life skills.

Ms. Thomas is a Perry native and 2009 graduate of Perry High School. She received a Master’s in Public Administration from Valdosta State University, Bachelor’s in Rural Studies, and Associates in Agricultural Communications from Abraham Baldwin College.
