Perry Buzzard Drop Kicks off 200th Birthday Celebration

The City of Perry is hosting the nationally-recognized New Year’s Eve celebration The Perry Buzzard Drop on Sunday, December 31 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Historic Downtown Perry.

This year’s event will also kick-off Perry’s 200th Birthday Celebration. The 2024 year-long celebration includes events, historical tours, community pop up parties, official merchandise, and more.

This year’s Buzzard Drop will feature live music by Cash’s Juke Joint and DJ Mixmaster T throughout the evening.

Free activities include face painting, balloon art, Trailer Flash photo booth pictures, Scott’s Shoe Shine, inflatables, Gellyball, and more.

The Kiddie Countdown, beginning at 8:00 p.m., offers a fun and interactive opportunity for families to celebrate New Year’s Eve together without having to miss bedtime.

At midnight, DJ Mixmaster T will help everyone ring in 2024 with party music and confetti cannons.

No personal heaters or outside coolers are allowed. Chairs and blankets are encouraged.

A map of free downtown parking is located on Historic Downtown Perry’s website. Click on the parking map icon to view the available parking (excluding the locations within the event footprint).

Prior to the Buzzard Drop, the Perry High School Football state champions will participate in a recognition ceremony beginning at 6:30 p.m.

City of Perry Fire & Emergency Services will escort the football players and cheerleads from Legacy Park (intersection of Carroll and Main Streets), down Carroll Street, and then to the main event state on the City Hall lawn for a presentation.
