Perry Receives Over $1 Million for Housing Improvements

The City of Perry received over one million dollars from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) to address housing issues in the Perry community.

Georgia DCA Commissioner Christopher Nunn presented two checks for a combined total of $1,048,651 in federal community development assistance. The funding was distributed through the Georgia Community Block Grant (CDBG) and the Community Home Investment Program (CHIP) state programs.

Perry received $748,561 through the CDBG program which supports projects that create jobs and assist citizens with low and moderate incomes. The grant benefits neighborhood revitalization and water and sewer improvements.

$300,000 was also awarded to Perry through the CHIP program. The funds assist in the efforts of local governments, nonprofit organizations, and public housing authorities with providing safe and affordable housing within Georgia communities.

The City will utilize the grants to improve housing conditions in the Creekwood neighborhood area.
