Water System Upgrade | September 28 – October 2

Posted on

The City of Perry is completing a significant upgrade to the City’s water system by commissioning a new, state-of-the art water treatment facility off Tucker Road.

Crews will begin the process of bringing the system online on Monday, September 28 and last through October 2. They will flush a portion of the high pressure water system from Highway 341 South to Interstate 75 along Perry Parkway.

Customers may experience water service disruption – particularly in the areas adjacent to Perry Parkway. This may include water sediment/discoloration, drop in water pressure, and temporary loss of service. In an attempt to lessen the impact, crews will complete the majority of this process during the overnight hours. They will begin Monday, September 28 at 8:00 p.m.

Be prepared by following these steps…

  1. Have Bottled Water Available
If you experience discolored water during this time period – use bottled water until your water runs clear.
  2. Don’t Wash Clothes In Dirty Water
Don’t wash clothes in your washing machine if you notice discolored water. Wait until your water system runs clear to resume using your washing machines.
  3. Remove & Clean Faucet Screens
Check your aerators (sink screens) on kitchen and bathroom faucets. They may need to be cleaned after we flush the water system.
  4. Boil Water For Medical Conditions
Anyone with medical conditions or a compromised immune system should plan to boil water for personal consumption. Using bottled water until their water system runs clear is another option.
  5. Is Your Ice Maker Filtered?
Shut off any unfiltered ice makers until crews are finished flushing the water system after October 2.
  6. All About The Clear
If you experience water sediment/discoloration – flush your home water system until the water runs clear.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve your water system and service.

The Tucker Road Water Treatment Facility will support multi-generational water security for the Perry community.
