James Freeman Chief Judge
Judge James Freeman was appointed to the Perry Municipal Court bench in September 2018. He is a 1996 graduate of Mercer University where he majored in Political Science. He attended the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 1999.
Judge James Freeman has been a practicing attorney in Middle Georgia since 1999. Prior to starting his own law firm, he previously worked as an associate at Chambless, Higdon, Richardson, Katz & Griggs; as House Counsel for Progressive Insurance; and as an associate at Anderson, Walker & Reichert. He spent four years in New Orleans, following Hurricane Katrina, assisting homeowners with their insurance claims.
Judge James Freeman has a long career in Civil and Criminal law. His legal experience includes criminal defense, plaintiff’s personal injury, insurance defense, family law, probate and business law. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Macon Bar Association.
Born and raised in Macon, he and his family still call Macon home. He attends a local church and is involved with community organizations, including the Alumni Advisory Board for Leadership Macon and the Chapter Advisory Board for his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta.
