Perry Police Department Offers Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Experience Through Citizens Police Academy
The Perry Police Department is accepting applications for this year’s Citizens Police Academy.
This program gives participants an opportunity to understand the responsibilities and challenges within the law enforcement profession.
The academy begins March 11, 2025, and will meet at the Public Safety Building located at 1207 Washington Street.
Applicant Requirements:
- Minimum age: 20 years old
- Resident of Houston County
- Program fee: $30.00
- Completion of background check
- Complete online registration
- Completion of all required documents (located below)
Class Requirements:
The program will include a firearms safety instruction class. Applicants will need to provide their own weapons, ammo, and eye/ear protection.

Program completion is not the equivalent of completing the Mandate Training Academy for sworn law enforcement officers. The program is for civilian education only.
