City of Perry Awarded $748,561 For Housing Improvements

Posted on

The City of Perry will receive $748,561 through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The program is administered through the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

The CDBG program funds community projects that assist citizens with low and moderate incomes. The program supports neighborhood revitalization through housing improvements and infrastructure projects such as water/sewer improvements.

The City will utilize this grant to improve housing conditions in the Creekwood neighborhood area. The grant will fund improvements to thirteen substandard houses which have already been identified.

This project is the second of two phases planned in the Creekwood area. The first phase is underway with over $996,000 being used to improve housing conditions and stormwater deficiencies. Both phases are funded through the CDBG program.

A public hearing will be held later this year to discuss details of the grant.
