City Utilizes Texting As New Communication Tool

The City of Perry is launching a new text messaging platform called Perry Points. Users can now report issues and find answers to common questions through interactive texting in partnership with Citibot.

Using text messaging, users can quickly get answers to their questions, find information on various City services, send a message to staff, and sign up for text message notifications. The platform was developed with the latest AI-driven chatbot technology, allowing the City to automate and scale its customer service efforts to help with the day-to-day needs of both staff and users.

“The City of Perry is always looking to enhance communication with its residents, businesses, and visitors,” said Perry Senior Communications Administrator Tabitha Clark. “This text-based service will allow users to access City information quickly, easily, and efficiently.”

With Citibot - Perry residents, visitors, and businesses can text their questions to find information about business licenses, trash pickup times, public meeting announcements, and more. Users can also report issues including potholes, missed trash pickups, and more all through an interactive chatbot that responds immediately to a user’s text message. Please note: Perry Points is not for emergencies.

To start a conversation with Perry Points, text “hello” to (888) 49-PERRY (73779). Citibot immediately responds with a short greeting explaining the ways users can use the service and link to sign up for text message notifications.
