Long-Time Councilmember Riley Hunt Steps Down
Perry Councilmember Riley Hunt announced he will be stepping down from his District 3 Post 2 role as councilmember in July.
Mr. Hunt commented, "It has been my privilege to serve the citizens of Perry. However, it is now time to step aside for health and family reasons. I bid you farewell and godspeed."
He was elected to the council in 2004. A Perry resident for over 60 years, he retired from the Watson-Hunt Funeral Home. Mr. Hunt served as Mayor Pro Tempore in 2009. He served on several boards including First Baptist Church, The Westfield School, and Perry Volunteer Outreach.
He served as President of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association in 1993. Mr. Hunt also served as the First Baptist Church Treasurer for fifteen years and currently serves as Chairman for the church’s local missions. Mr. Hunt and his late wife, Sandra, have two grown children.
