The Perry Police Department was proud to host the Georgia Crisis Intervention Team Training instructed by the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in February.
This intensive, 40-hour five day training prepares law enforcement officers and other public safety personnel with the skills to assist those with mental illness, co-occurring disorders, substance abuse, developmental disorders, or other brain disorders who are in crisis. Officers were trained to continue the advancement of public safety and reduce the stigma of mental illness in their communities.
The course consisted of classroom instruction and practical exercises delivered by mental health professionals, subject matter experts, and Crisis Intervention Team law enforcement instructors.
