Public Notice
The Houston County Communications Division is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®). This accreditation requires that for at least 60 days each year, the public has access to the CALEA Public Comment Portal.
The purpose of this portal is to receive comments regarding an agency’s compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services and overall candidacy for accredited status. These comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide the participating agency with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.
The CALEA Public Portal is for comments regarding performance and compliance with CALEA Standards. This is not monitored by the 911 Center or the Sheriff’s Office. The public comment portal is monitored and maintained by CALEA, therefore, any complaints filed via the portal will not notify 911 management and not result in an immediate review.
